What is AutoSelect?

AutoSelect is a marketplace for buyers and sellers of privately owned used cars for sale in Ireland. Back to top

Why list your car for sale with AutoSelect?

By selling your car privately you can get a better price then you would get from a dealer. Buyer's save money too. The negotiated price is usually a lot less then the listing price at dealers. Essentially the large margin that dealers make can be split between the buyer and seller of the car. Back to top

How do we do this? Sellers list their vehicles for sale. Your listing is immediately added to our database. At anytime you can login using your username and password and delete or change details of your listing. Buyers search for a used vehicle using the search form. You can search by make, model, year, telephone area code and county. All vehicles found that match the search criteria are displayed. Click on any listing to get full details of the vehicle.

If you do not find the car you're looking for, you may list a free car wanted ad. As soon as a car is listed that matches your requirement's an e-mail is sent to you notifying you about the vehicle. Back to top

Buying a used car? Key Considerations! A late-model used vehicle in good condition can be one of the best auto values you’ll find. You can typically buy a vehicle for thousands less than it cost when new. Or you can buy one that you wouldn’t be able to afford new. Back to top

Advantages:

The purchase price and monthly payments on a used vehicle are considerably lower than on a new one.
After three or four years, a vehicle is over the steepest part of its depreciation curve and will begin to hold its value better. The original owner has already taken the hardest depreciation hit.
With vehicles in general holding up better than ever, you can expect a late-model used car to last you many years and, if well maintained, about 100,000 miles. The average age of cars on the road in 2003 was 5.6 years
You can often get a vehicle with advanced safety features, such as antilock brakes, traction control, and modern air-bag systems, at a lower price than you’d have to pay for a similarly equipped new vehicle. Back to top

Disadvantages:

The risks of buying a used vehicle center on the possibility of it needing expensive repairs that aren’t covered by a warranty. You can minimize this risk by having a vehicle thoroughly checked out by a mechanic before buying. It is a good idea to get a qualified mechanic to check out the vehicle before you purchase it. AA Ireland has a good servive that will inspect a 100 items on a used car. Also, check with the Garda or Vehicle Registration Office to check the current owner. Always ask to see the owners certificate and owners identification. Check with your bank to make sure that there are no outstanding loans or leans on the vehicle. Back to top
